Jazz Live With ICHIDO Sparking Sake Tasting

Celebrating the final day of TOKYO GEIDAI JAPAN ART WEEK, THE BRICKS NYC will be hosting a jazz live event paired with Japanese sparkling sake tasting. As in the previous event in 2022, MIRUA Yoshiki will come back to the BRICKS stage again with his quartet this year. Along with it, in collaboration with SAKE GENERATION, Inc, their sparkling sake will be served during the concert to have all guests enjoy the marriage of the taste of sake and jazz. 

MIURA Yoshiki

He started playing in rock bands in elementary school in Japan and studied classical guitar under Yasumasa Obara in junior high school, and later played in the backing bands of Takao Horiuchi of Alice and Kazuo Funaki. In 1981, he moved to the U.S., graduated from Berkeley College of Music in 1985, and moved to New York.

In 1997, he released a CD [UNKNOWN CREATURE]. He has been performing live and recently has been focusing on composing music as well.

Since 1995, he has returned to Japan every year to tour with his own group, Zane Massey, etc. In 2000, he wrote a song for the popular TV drama "Sex and the City". In 2002, he performed at the Smithsonian Museum Concert Hall in Washington, D.C.

In 2003 and 2005, the Amaria Gre Group released CDs on the EMI label. In the same year, they went on a music tour throughout Italy.

In 2014, he released Yoshiki's CD [Whispers from 015].

 

He has participated in New York Jazz Clubs, JVC Jazz Festivals, Heineken Jazz Festivals, etc., and has also participated in New York Texaco Jazz Festivals with his own group. Recently, he is also active as a YouTuber.

GREAT NEWS! We are delighted to welcome star soprano TAMURA Asako, who is an alumna of Tokyo GEIDAI, as a special guest performer on this night!! She will be performing with Yoshiki Miura Jazz Quartet. This is a one-and-only special night to see Ms. TAMURA perform with the jazz combo live. 

TAMURA Asako, soprano

Soprano Asako Tamura has been praised by the press for her exquisite tone, artistic sensitivity, mesmerizing stagecraft as well as a first-class singing actress, brilliant jewel of a voice, blessed with glittering soprano. Asako has performed a wide variety of roles in Europe and USA since 2002 when she sang with Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, and Luciano Pavarotti as the female soloist in the Three Tenors Concert in Yokohama before the World Cup Championship. Won numerous international voice competitions and was honored to sing the National Anthem as the first foreign opera singer at the Exhibition Game of the Yankees vs the Nationals. She appeared in many opera companies in diverse countries including the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor at Hungary State Opera, Romanian National Opera, Teatro Lirico di Cagliali, National Trapani Summer Opera Festival. Another title role of Madame Butterfly at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Uruguay National Opera in Teatro Solis, the Dubuque Symphony, Lyric Opera Baltimore, Sarasota Opera and the Japanese Embassy in Washington D.C. and Violetta of La Traviata with Teatro Filarmonico, Kalamazoo Symphony, El Paso Opera, Hungary State Opera, etc. As orchestral engagements, Chicago Phil, Rome Festival Orchestra, BBC orchestra in London, Los Angeles Symphony, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, etc. She was also invited by numerous important orchestras all over Japan as a guest singer. Her other engagements include some solo concerts in the first class venue like Carnegie Hall, Freer Sackler Hall at Smithsonian Museum (DC), Pasadena Auditorium(L.A.), Zilka Hall(Houston), Villa Kerylos (Beau-lieu sue mer), Suntory Hall(Tokyo), etc.

Lives in New York, Kyoto-Joyo goodwill ambassador.
